Vape Device Temperature Warning: How to Protect Your Cartridges & Disposables

As summer heats up on Cape Cod, it’s more important than ever to store your vape devices safely. Whether you’re using cannabis cartridges or disposable vapes, improper storage—especially in extreme temperatures—can damage your device and pose safety risks.

Why You Should Never Leave Vapes in a Hot Car?

It might feel like a mild 80°F outside, but inside your car, temperatures can soar well over 100°F. When left in these conditions, vape devices are at risk of:

• Leaking oil from heat expansion
• Battery malfunction or sluggish performance
• Melting, warping, or—though rare—explosions

Many vape pens and disposables use lithium-ion batteries, just like your laptop or phone. These batteries are sensitive to both high heat and freezing cold, and they should always be stored with care.

What are the Vape battery Safety Risks from Temperature Extremes?

Exposure to high or low temperatures can result in:

• Batteries losing efficiency or stopping altogether
• Permanent device damage
• Safety hazards due to battery failure or overheating

Moisture, such as rain or condensation, can also short-circuit your vape or degrade the battery. Avoid leaving your vape anywhere it’s exposed to water or extreme humidity—like glove compartments, beach bags, or window sills.

What are the Best Practices for Vape Storage?

To keep your cannabis vape pens, cartridges, and disposables in top condition:

• Store between 14°F and 86°F (ideal range for lithium-ion batteries)
• Avoid direct sunlight, especially through glass
• Keep devices dry, away from rain, snow, or moisture
• Don’t leave them in parked cars, beach bags, or backpacks left in the sun
